Instagram Reels Export: A Placement-Aware Review Process

Use current Meta placement guidance, source properties and FreeCut's documented manual controls without claiming one timeless Reels preset.

An Instagram Reel is both a video file and a placement inside a changing interface. A technically valid file can still hide a title behind interface controls or crop important information in another surface. The safest workflow starts with the current Meta guide for the exact placement and ends with a preview of the saved upload.

Design for the placement before encoding

If the creative is intended to fill a vertical phone screen, plan that composition deliberately. Keep critical text, faces and product details away from the interface zones shown in current Meta previews. Avoid copying a percentage-based safe area from an old article and treating it as permanent.

Match the source unless the destination requires a change

Aspect ratioUse the current Reels placement requirement
Frame ratePrefer the recorded source rate unless current guidance requires otherwise
BitrateBalance source detail and file size; inspect the saved result
CodecChoose one accepted by the current Meta specification
Text areaVerify with the current placement preview

FreeCut 1.3 exposes FPS, bitrate, codec and estimated file size. Those manual controls are documented; an automatic Reels preset is not. Use the Meta source to make each setting decision visible and current.

Run a short range test

  1. 01Choose a representative range containing text, movement and audio.
  2. 02Export it with settings compatible with the current Reels guidance.
  3. 03Open the saved file in Photos or Files and check motion, text edges and sync.
  4. 04Upload privately or use the current placement preview where the workflow permits it.
  5. 05Adjust composition or settings before rendering the complete timeline.

Keep an unmodified master

A master gives you a stable source when Meta changes its placement or when the same edit is adapted for another destination. Do not replace that file with a downloaded social copy, because the platform copy may already have been transcoded.

  • Current Meta placement source reviewed.
  • Critical content checked against current interface overlays.
  • Frame rate decision tied to the source recording.
  • Saved file reviewed outside FreeCut.
  • Clean master retained before upload.
