FreeCut is a video editor for iPhone, iPad and Mac, built by LKS E-Commerce GmbH in Wuppertal, Germany. We started FreeCut because we kept watching creators sand off the watermarks of other apps frame by frame — and we thought that was an absurd creator tax.
Our promise is simple: clean export is baseline. Free users get a clean export. Pro users get more AI credits, no editor time gate, all effect and template packs, and ad-free editing. We never weaponise your timeline or export sheet with ads.
We are independent, self-funded and based in Europe. We are bound by the GDPR and we like it that way.
What runs under the hood
- iOS-native — SwiftUI, AVFoundation, Core Image, Metal. No React Native, no Flutter, no wrapper.
- StoreKit 2 for subscriptions and one-shot purchases. Apple handles payment — we never see card or bank data.
- Google UMP + IAB TCF v2 for GDPR-compliant consent handling. AdMob with non-personalised ads as default.
- Local render engine with memory-aware frame provider, pre-sorted keyframes, cancel anywhere — no cloud render.
- Apple App Tracking Transparency for personalised ads. You decide whether you are tracked.
