Find a safe bitrate for any platform, resolution and frame rate.

Upload too low and platforms re-encode to mush. Upload too high and the encoder discards your headroom. Find the sweet spot.

FAQ

FAQ

Why is the recommended bitrate lower than YouTube's official chart?+

We bias slightly conservatively (bits-per-pixel × resolution × fps) so creators stay below platform re-encode thresholds. Add 20–30% for action-heavy content.

H.264 or H.265?+

H.264 is universally supported. H.265 / HEVC needs hardware support on the device that encoded it — use it on iPhone 7+ and modern Android only.
